KLFW 2014 Day 4 Highlights

Carven Ong's collection channeled Safari vibes, featuring prints and animal motifs in his monochromatic collection. I wish there was colour in the collection, it would be less.... safe. But then again, the designer has his reasons and respect is without word. The Bremen W headpieces definitely added to the charm of the show, good call. Overall, a good show with personality.

Cassey Gan delivered a sporty collection, with quirky cuts and layering on top of textures and prints. The contrasts between colour and material made the collection fun to watch. I would love to pair any look from this collection with Nike sneaks and see how many stares I would get in the mall. So chic, no?

Farah Khan, with her sequins signature, had her show open with a parade of statement tees (with sequined words duh). My favourite tee is of course in the collage below. Then after, it was no shot of a bang with meticulously sequined plaid and houndstooth prints. It wouldn't be a Farah Khan show without splendidly done evening wear and she delivered them with Persian and geometric influence. I will not live until I own one sparkly Farah Khan dress.

Glamour and elegance oozed from Khoon Hooi's collection. Lovely cocktail minis, suit pieces and floor swishing gowns. The collection feature lace, embellishments, shiny fabric and feathers. You could paint the picture already. I wish I had the height to pull the long pieces off.

Ruzz Gahara presented a traditionally influenced sollection, with batik prints and something that is reminiscent of kain songket. There is definitely a personal touch in this collection with bringing in the aforementioned elements, but with draping as well. 

Singaporean label Silk, one of the four internatinal labels featured throughout KLFW 2014, gave us prep and chic looks with modern twists. We will not look like grandmas with see through chiffon skirts, holos and swingy pieces attached to dresses. We'll be new and improved grandmas though. But hey, still very chic. Grab your Miu Miu kitten heels, we are ready for tai tai tea.

KLFW 2014 Day 3 Highlights

Anthony Ramirez brought a punch of colour and hints of silver to his collection. The Filipino designer also fashioned structures with fabric, which framed the collection nicely. The red dress was superb though. 

It was floral motifs galore at SF by Sazzy Falak, with a few floor sweeping dresses in the mix. The entire collection could just be your glamour holiday pack-and-go, with breezy easy suits for the day and appropro dresses for fancy nights. Bring me back to white sandy beaches pronto. 

Haflin Saiful presented boxy and relaxed silhouettes for her show, a frequent sight in this round's KLFW. She accessorized with statement pewter-like silver pieces, which conjured up a past crave for this particular piece.

Johnathan Liang delivered a nice transition from plain straight cuts to layered iridescent looks. It was a light collection with a personal touch, something less seen but budding in the Malaysian scene. Still, job well done!

Innai Red was the shizz. The collection was strong, with beautifully thought up pieces perfect for every kind of evening outside the house. Prints and colours were fun, so were the two-piece. Towards the end, the evening dresses showcased were completely red carpet worthy. Definitely not your average Jane dresses.

One word - shiny. Silver was major in Rizman Ruzaini's collection. The Ananthan twins opened the show with a bang, and everything went upwards from then. Silver and pastel dresses graced the runway mid-collection, which helped transit the collection to white gowns at the end.

KLFW 2014 Day 2 Highlights

Lace, leather, sequins and chiffon; Alia Bastamam served up romance, luxe and glamour. Every piece was done tastefully, and most importantly you can actually wear them all. With attitude. And strut your shizz. I mean, a good outfit always helps with your shizz.

Tsyahmi presented a collection which collaborated with Jamboo Tie Dye (founded locally by a couple with a penchant for tie dyeing all things). I am in complete adoration of the tropical-vibe-giving green and white print. Really good workmanship. The collection featured a number of pieces with draping and layering, which I thought was done quite tastefully.

 It was all black and white for Villiam Ooi's show, where he delivered a good display on the art of the monochromatic. Villiam brought interesting elements with sheer paneling, textures and layering in the mono-coloured looks.

Sean Loh delivered a powerful collection titled Ophélie, featuring muted gold, lace and lots of silhouette play. This is one of my favourite collections of KLFW 2014, one that is bullet proof and different from what has been plated. All looks delivered are very well thought out and balanced, having paid close attention to the shapes and textures used. Very well done!

Dude and the Duchess was a sheer delight, delivering its first collection with Jonathan Liang as creative director. So as expected, there was a lot of hype in circulation and as we hoped, expectations were pretty much met. I love the asymmetry and length play involved. The pop of mint gave the fresh face element the collection needed. Speaking of which, I would love to get my hands on the half mesh half mint piece and wear the sort of lace bras everybody posts on instagram underneath it.

Amir Luqman brought so much drama to the runway. Above drool worthy lace gowns, there were abstract blues and reds and at one point bold zig zags. Unexpected pairings can give birth to beautiful things. Here is to another 10 years of glamour! (PS: How fabulous is Amir Luqman?!!)

Another one of my favourite collections, Nurita Harith delivered on the second day of KLFW 2014. The pink and blue-grey iridescent pieces are a winner! All pieces are beautifully structured and combined to create lovely outlines. Floaty capes, you have permission to get into my wardrobe anytime.
